Welcome!
The road of and to fertility is be a journey. It can be an easy one, but if you are here, you are just starting out or maybe you have already experienced the roller coaster and ups and downs of emotions. I am creating this page as a wealth of information for you. I realized recently that I need to offer more to my fertility clients. I also realized I need to learn more, and once I get in this mindset, I get OCD. I am super excited now to offer you sooo much information! This is to empower you and find your own hormonal/physical health. Your health leading up to pregnancy is KEY. Why I haven't shared this is it is going to involve CHANGE.I am not sure but I have been resistant to asking people to change.
In order for me to have a child, I had to change my whole life, I took a break from acupuncture school and did massage part time. And at that time I was VERY healthy for me, I had been getting treated for years, doing tons of yoga, lost weight, and more. I am prone to miscarriage so as. chinese Doctor in school told me, it was good that I had a child at my age.
My main approach is through chinese medicine but as more and more struggle with fertility, we have even more information.
The two aspects that do line up in Western and Eastern Medicine is that diet and your digestive health are KEY.
There are a few different levels of how serious we can get with your fertility. The first would be casual where you do not change much about your lifestyle and we do herbs and acupuncture. The second and third tiers would be a lot more involved and take a larger commitment from you.
I have had my own road with fertility. At the age of 26, I had a miscarriage, the child wasn't planned but it devastated me, so much that I left acupuncture school for awhile. I became pregnant again, not really planned at 28. My daughter is now 16. My ex husband and I got divorced. I was a student and doing massage full time with a child. After I had my miscarriage, I could see that I needed to change in order to make space for a child, I turned my life upside down, but you do not need to do that!
I met my current husband and we tried to have children, I won't violate his privacy but we would have had to continue on to IVF and/ or a sperm donor. At that time there seemed to be a lot more stigma about it, and he has two daughters already, so we decided not to move forward. Now it really isn't as big of a deal to use other options. I was listening to a podcast last night with another Acupuncturist and she said, often when people open their minds to other possibilities, they get pregnant. So realize there are many paths to getting a child, and I ask you to have an open mind. Either way through this journey you might discover increased general health.
I am going to be adding many resources to this page, links to books, recipes, supplements, lifestyle suggestions including Meditation. I will be doing some of it blog style, so I recommend subscribing that that.

Why a #Basal Body Temperature chart (click here for more detail)? This may seem like a lot of work, but so is having a child. Through this we can see more clearly how your hormones are working, or out of balance, and also your organs in Traditional Chinese Medicine, that way we can help you more!
Here is a link to an example of a thermometer it is more precise than a regular one. Some women like to wear a bracelet to measure temperature.
Hormones are a delicate balance, when one is off, it can through off the whole fertility process. The more information we have the better.
Here is an example of an app you can track on, the more detailed symptoms, the more helpful it is as well.
Product Checklist to start eliminating Xenoestrogens, from our environment, plastics, etc. These block our estrogen receptor sites.

Diet and / or Egg Quality:
You are probably going to have to change how you eat. Egg quality is key in fertility along with sperm quality, both you and your partner can eat together ! There are two schools of thought currently on how to eat for fertility. I am more of the middle of the road kind of woman, so I do not believe in completely restricting everything, BUT if you are really struggling to conceive, you may need to consider more drastic lifestyle changes, and these include your partner. Sperm quality AND egg quality are where it's at. You have two main dietary Choices, Keto & the Mediterranean diet. After we do your initial intake, we can customize your diet to your body type. The key concept is to get enough Protein & Healthy fats. Click the link below to our blog on Diet for Fertility. I recommend these two books to give you a start. It starts with the Egg And The Egg Quality Diet It takes 90 days for an egg to develop, Ideally when you start treatment with us, we could work on your health for at least 90 days, along with your partners health. The healthier your eggs, if you have a daughter, the healthier HER eggs will be. Isn't that mind blowing? Here is a pdf with some recipes, that look super yummy to me! |
Supplements & Herbs:
Many women are resistant to chinese herbs. They are honestly a key part of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is considered the Qi aspect of this medicine and Herbs are the more substantial/ physical part. It's ideal if you can do a BBT chart. That can help us find where the imbalance is. A woman's period is amazing in that it can reveal your inner health/ workings. In Chinese Medicine the cycle is divided into four parts. Different lifestyle habits/ dietary changes/change in herbs and supplements for each phase are ideal in regulating your cycle / hormones. Week 1 : Your menses, we need to move and engender/ nourish your blood. Week 2: Follicular Phase: We need to nourish your Yin and blood. Week 3ish/ Ovulation: We need to course your liver, this is going into the yang part of the cycle, we need to warm you up, energize you. If you are trying to conceive, we need healthy levels of progesterone to help maintain the pregnancy. Week 4: The luteal phase/ Yang phase, as described above. |
