What are Essential Oils?An essential oil is a volatile aromatic compound. In short, these compounds are small organic molecules that change states quickly and easily: from a solid or liquid, to a gas at room temperature. Volatile describes this rapid change in state. The physical and chemical properties of Essential Oils, or volatile aromatic compounds, enable the oil to quickly move through the air or defuse into the atmosphere. During this process they interact directly with olfactory sensors in the nose. Such unique properties make essential oils ideal for applications like aromatherapy. These Essential Oil compounds, derived from plants, can be used to help maintain a healthy mind and body.

How do they work?Depending on how you use the oil, they go to certain organs and also enter the bloodstream. When we smell them, they actually can affect our limbic system which is linked with the olfactory system. What is our limbic system? It pertains to our stress response and certain emotions. Different oils tend to affect different organs. As an herbalist, I believe that herbs, plants can help strengthen our body and heal us on a very deep level..
